Newsletter
Newsletter screen
The Newsletter screen holds your subscribers, sent newsletters, templates and the open/click report.
Subscribers and double opt-in
A reader who subscribes on your site receives a confirmation email. Until the reader clicks the link, they count as Pending Confirmation and the newsletter isn't sent to them; newsletters go only to the people counted under Confirmed Subscribers. You can email pending subscribers again with the Resend confirmation emails button (at most once an hour to the same address).
Importing a list
You can upload your own list with Import List on the Subscribers tab. Addresses added this way count as confirmed and no confirmation email is sent. Only upload a list of people who have given you explicit consent; uploading a purchased or scraped list violates personal data protection law.
Sending
- The daily newsletter goes out automatically every morning at 07:30, and the weekly newsletter on Mondays at 08:00. If no stories were published in that period, the send is skipped.
- From the Manual Send section you can send the daily or weekly newsletter right away.
- Send test to myself sends the latest newsletter only to your own address.
A newsletter sent while there are no confirmed subscribers closes with a "No recipients" badge; no email was sent to anyone.
Sender address
The sender line of newsletter emails shows your site's name and an address on your site's domain starting with no-reply@. This information comes from the Site Title and Canonical Site URL fields on the Brand screen. If the site URL is empty, no email can be sent; if the site title is empty, only the address is shown.
